Juan Pablo Corlazzoli
Juan Pablo Corlazzoli, Sociology degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, is member of the Scientific Committee of the KIT International School. He is currently member of the Directive Council of the UNDP Virtual School for Latin America and the Caribbean, which realizes Human Development courses on Democracy and Democratic Governance, from Bogota and New York and board member of the Latin American Center for Human Economy - CLAEH of Uruguay. He is also a consultant and policy advisor on issues of democratic governance in the Project for Political Analysis and Prospective Scenarios PAPEP-UNDP. From 1991 to 1994 he participated in the regional team of the United Nations PRODERE Programme in Central America and from 1994 to 1996 he was Chief Technical Advisor of the Programmes PRODERE and Sustainable Human Development at the Local Level in Guatemala. He was Senior Adviser to the Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for the negotiation of peace agreements in Guatemala and participated in negotiations during the period 1993 - 1996. He was Deputy Representative of the UN General Secretary and Deputy Head of the UN Mission of Peace MINUGUA in Guatemala. In the following years he was Chief Technical Advisor of projects related to peace and post conflict processes in Lebanon and Mozambique, and Chief of Mission to formulate the program of demobilization and reintegration of members of the Armed Forces of Rwanda in the context of the peace agreements of Aruscha. He was Resident Coordinator of the UN System and UNDP Resident Representative in Guatemala (2001-2005) and Executive Director of the UNDP PRODDAL Programme for Strengthening Democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean in New York headquarter (2005-2006); Representative in Colombia of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations (2007-2008); UNDP Cluster Manager for Democratic Governance in Latin America and the Caribbean (2009-2010). He also participated in the preparation, presentation and dissemination of UNDP reports Citizenship Democracy in Latin America (2004) and Our Democracy (2010). He is promoter of the design and presentation of the report State for Citizenship in Latin America (2007).
